We both initiate custom services and support the continuation of our various projects. If you are looking to join us in our efforts, need support in your project, or are looking for one of the following services, please contact us!
Educational Workshops, Programs and Projects including leadership training, strength-based education, cultural identity, awareness and diversity, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Each program is designed to the specific needs of the school or group we are working with.
Example: Foundry High School leadership class with a focus on leadership development and conflict resolution.
Community Development, Service Learning and Mentoring Projects with a focus on leadership development involving youth and other members of the community (e.g., police officers, teachers, parents, service organizations).
Example: Pedal Some Joy for Kids: Youth and community members come together to refurbish used bikes for youth who can't afford them. Participating youth learn bike safety and repair, and share this knowledge with their peers while developing leadership skills, problem-solving skills, cooperation, and the value of community service.
Support and Networking with existing resources in the community to link parents, teachers, and
youth development professionals. This service focuses on meeting a growing need for programs that empower youth within schools and community organizations.
Positive Experiences Programs makes contributions: in-kind, cash and scholarships to help youth gain increased access to available programs and resources with a focus on providing opportunities for positive experiences which build on young peoples strengths and supports the expression of their gifts and talents.
Example: art classes, camps, athletic equipment, bike helmets to Big Brothers/Big Sisters, bikes and toys for Christmas to the Boys and Girls Club, etc.
Journeys of Service provide community service, fundraising, advocacy, and education about specific issues included in CAOF’s vision.
Example 1: of past projects include an 8,000 mile solo cross-country bicycle trip through 26 states by the founder of the organization, Terry Nail Williams, to provide advocacy and educational programs to school children, parents, teachers, and community leaders.
Example 2: 4,000 mile two-person relay bike ride from San Jose, CA, to Washington, DC,. Ms. Nail and volunteer Frank Harper provided educational programs and inspired a letter writing campaign to President Bill Clinton with over 15,000 children writing letters about the importance of staying in school and how education contributes to their lives, and their future hopes and dreams.
